Neuroendocrine neoplasias (NEN) are a heterogeneous group of tumors that can be distributed throughout almost the entire body and located in various organs. In recent years, we have seen significant changes in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, which have led to new alternatives with an impact on survival in a tumor that generally has an indolent course. Among the aspects that are essential to know about this neoplasia are the WHO classification, the diagnostic techniques including functional ones, and the treatments available for stage IV NEN. Throughout the module, the student will be able to learn the prognostic and predictive factors and those that help in the choice of treatment, for example, the expression of somatostatin receptors guides the activity of radionuclides, while a high Ki67 and histological dedifferentiation support the use of chemotherapy.
